Unlike other instant heat pads, the HeatWave heat pad is reusable and contins no toxic chemicals. The innovative sodium acetate solution in the pad is non-persistent and biodegradable.

How does the HeatWave work?

The heat pad contains a solution of liquid Sodium Acetate (a form of salt) in a durable PVC bag. Clicking the metal disc in the bag causes a single molecule of the solution to crystallize, starting a chain reaction which causes the entire solution to solidify. This change causes the heat pack to heat to approximately 130 degrees F / 54 C. The heat pad stays hot for about 30 minutes, and then gradually cools down.

The HeatWave heat pad can be re-used over and over again. To return the solid solution to the liquid state, just place the heat pack on a cloth in boiling water until all the crystals have disappeared. When cool, the pad is again ready for use.

Instructions for Use:

To activate:
1) Flex the metal disc (or gently depress and release),
2) Allow 10 seconds for heat to spread throughout pack,
3) To attain maximum heat quickly massage the pad until it is soft and pliable (to maximize duration of heat, start with a heat pad that has been pre-warmed in hot water).

To recharge:
1) Boil water in a pot,
2) Place a cloth on bottom of pot,
3) Put the heat pad into boiling water and boil until the crystals are completely liquified (for safety reasons, it is not recommended that the head pad be put into a microwave oven),
4) Let cool and it is ready for use again.
